Phil fails slowly

Phil’s attempt is shown as part of a montage of contestants who had particular difficulty with the task.

He initially takes the time to figure out how long each item takes to do its thing, but does not seem to actually take that into account when trying to get everything going at once – he actually does some of the longer-running things (like the Newton’s cradle) near the end of several of his attempts.

He also works more slowly than the other contestants in his montage.

He does realise that the candles are trick candles, and pinches them out, ensuring that they never relight.

In his attempt after extinguishing the candles, Phil forgets to set the fidget spinner spinning before clapping.

He is also not credited for getting the monsters to squat, as there is only one monster on the table during his attempt (the other two are presumably on the floor somewhere).

Phil is therefore disqualified.
