Christian struggles to be average
Christian is the third to film his attempt at the task, and so gets to choose from the three remaining task briefs. He picks the middle one, which instructs him to paint the third most accurate portrait of Lasse.
When introducing Christian’s footage, Mark makes sure to underline the fatal flaw in whatever Christian has planned: “it’s difficult to make something average when you’re really fucking good”. Christian is indeed something of an artist so, despite his attempts to mimic a “number 3 painter” (whom he defines as someone who does not understand how colours work with each other), and to make his portrait intentionally ugly in the way of “modern art”, Christian still manages to create something very good, which looks quite a bit like Lasse (albeit with some unnecessary strips of paper added on).
Lasse calls Christian’s portrait “frighteningly accurate”, and asks if he can purchase it. Christian agrees to give it to Lasse for free, but only if Lasse will agree that it’s the most average of all five portraits.
Ultimately, though, Lasse judges Christian’s painting to be the best, so he receives no points.
