Phil puns his way towards the answer

Phil takes his time during the task, walking from room to room. He also leaves the clues wherever he finds them. Otherwise, Phil seems to have no trouble finding each clue, and figuring out what they are instructing him to do.

However, he hits a stumbling point after reading the final clue, searching the birdcage (the location of the initial task brief) for answers, and finding none.

Remembering all of the letters, he questions what “riez c” means (‘riez’ means ‘laugh’, while ‘criez’ means ‘shout’). He makes a joke about laughing being at the beginning (‘c’est’, meaning ‘it is’, sounds like ‘c’), and then doubles back to the previous locations to retrieve his clues (finally showing a little urgency by jogging).

The edit suggests that Phil correctly remembered the order in which he found the clues, as he places them down on the table in the correct order. After a few seconds, he realises that the ‘C’ is meant to go at the beginning of the sequence of letters, and he shouts.

Phil completes the task in 4 minutes and 41 seconds (coincidentally, the exact same amount of time it had taken Marie-Lyne to find the initial task brief), and earns third place.
