Behrouz, Maria, and Ankan build quickly and chaotically

Ankan immediately takes charge of the toaster, setting up the next slice of bread and taking note of the toaster setting (‘1’, which means it will toast fairly quickly). He counts seconds out loud, starting the next slice of bread when he reaches 20 seconds, then continuing to count until the first slice pops back up, to gain a more accurate estimate of how long the team has between toasts (55 seconds).

Meanwhile, Maria and Behrouz start stacking handfuls of crispbread in the centre of the table, with seemingly no real construction plan.

When the toaster pops, Maria and Ankan switch places, and Maria immediately lowers a slice of bread into the empty toaster. Maria is still somewhat confused about the toaster system, so Ankan tries to explain it: when they hear the next toaster pop, he will start toasting the next slice of bread, which he places into the toaster as he explains (presumably he is suggesting that he and Maria continually switch turns). However, Maria incorrectly believes that Behrouz needs to be the next person to activate the toaster.

Ankan and Behrouz continue to build. Maria, still confused, watches over the toaster, and starts it before the other toaster can pop. David therefore calls a halt to the construction process, as Maria had used the toaster twice in a row.

Maria yells that she didn’t understand the toaster situation, but then tries to placate her teammates by pointing out that they’d built a quite tall tower in a short amount of time. As Maria then leaves the room in annoyance, Ankan becomes the one pointing out that the tower is “tall as hell”.

Behrouz, Maria, and Ankan build a 62.5 centimetre tower, and lose the task.
