Sophie’s industry-recognised cow
Having read the task brief, Sophie shares with Alex that she could only draw one thing at school. However, before she can reveal what that is, she is disturbed by the close proximity of one of the horses, as the herd has apparently come over to investigate her. Surrounded by horses in the middle of the field, she conversationally asks “Hello, guys. Are you alright?”, but then apologetically has to step in to deter them from sticking their noses into the wheeled shopping bag.
Most of the horses eventually lose interest and move away from her, but there is then some kind of interpersonal drama in the herd, leading Sophie to exclaim “Oh god! Bloody hell! Kicking off over there.”
A single horse is then seen walking past her and heard farting loudly in her direction, to which she comments “Oh, excuse me! That’s horrific!” before suggesting “I think she was making a statement, weren’t she, really?”.
Sophie’s join-the-dots picture is revealed in the studio third, and it quickly becomes apparent that she has made extensive use of breaks in her line to create a very easily recognisable image of a cow, which prompts impressed exclamations from several of the other contestants, and a strong round of applause from the audience. Sophie even appears to be surprised by her own success, stating “I thought I’d really effed that up, to be honest. I’m chuffed.”
When Greg asks if anything in particular had inspired her drawing, she responds that “I always know I can draw a cow”, prompting Greg to say “everyone in the industry says that about you”. Greg then genuinely compliments and thanks her for her work.
As Greg deliberates on which of Sophie and John is going to earn first place, John keenly points out that “Mine is massive.”, but he also acknowledges that Sophie’s drawing is “a nicer piece of art”. Greg agrees, but decides that he will also reward the scale of John’s picture, so he awards both John and Sophie joint first place, and 5 points each.
