John collects a prayer tie
John begins by removing his own belt and unsuccessfully attempts to use it to whip down some ties, prompting Alex to request that he not hit himself in the face with the buckle.
He eventually finds the hooks provided beneath the camping bed, and uses one of them to grab and pull down some ties. As he does so, he comments that some of the ties have “prayers” written on them. When Alex asks why he thinks the text on some of the ties are prayers, he responds “What else are you going to write on a tie?”.
John does eventually pull down the yellow tie with writing on it, and identifies that it is written in Welsh. However, despite frequent mini-lessons in Welsh from his longtime radio and podcast co-host Elis James, he is unable to decipher its meaning.
John collects a large number of ties before tying them all together into one long rope, which he then uses to tie himself to the bed, around the waist.
John also ties a tie around his forehead, and one around his mouth as a gag, and also ties his wrists together.
In the studio, Alex reveals that John had used 13 ties to tie himself up, and confirms that he’d brought down the yellow tie with the Welsh text ‘Peidiwch wylior cloc; gwna beth maen gwneud. Cario ymlaen!’ (‘Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going!’) written on it.
John ultimately earns 3 points.
