Steve angers the tie gods
Steve is easily able to reach up and pull down the task brief without sitting up, and then quickly discovers the hooks hidden beneath the camping bed.
He initially decides to try to raise the height of the bed with the hooks, assuming that they must somehow slot onto the ends of its existing legs, so he rolls off the bed to attempt to do so. After discovering that this is not possible, he instead reaches up and swings one of the hooks at the ties.
The very first tie that Steve brings down from the racks turns out to be the ‘terrible tie’, He actually questions whether that is the case, and recognises that the text written on it is Welsh, but is unable to decipher it.
For some reason choosing to remain lying on the floor, rather than on the higher elevation of the bed, he continues to reach up and swing his hook at the tie racks, and eventually snags one of them hard enough to affect its angle, leading to many ties simply falling off of it as they catch on some of the surrounding hardware.
Steve spends the rest of his attempt thanking the “tie gods” for raining a bounty of ties down upon him, as he lies on the floor and secures many parts of his body to the frame of the bed.
In the studio, Alex reveals that Steve had managed to use 28 ties to tie himself to the bed, and had even individually tied each of his fingers. Steve adds that he had also tied his mouth, head and pelvis to the bed, leading Alex to note that Steve had not tied himself “through the pelvic bone”, and Greg to ask him “do you wanna win or not?”.
Alex reveals that Steve had brought down the purple tie with the Welsh text ‘Bydd person hapus, yn gwneud eraill yn hapus.’ (‘Whoever is happy, will make others happy too.’) written upon it, and also confirms that he’d brought down the ‘terrible tie’, and is therefore disqualified.
