Episode 6: Hippopotamus

Image of a cocktail glass full of cherry tomatoes (presumably a reference to the 'Quietly make a cocktail' task), with the episode title, 'Hippopotamus', superimposed on it.
Air date:

Episode synopsis

In this episode the contestants must bring in the most narcissistic thing, quietly make a cocktail, draw the animal watching them from a mirror, transfer water from one barrel to another, and draw animals using straight lines.

Title context

'Hippopotamus' was never actually uttered during the episode, but is a reference to Daisy Lee Cooper's drawing of a hippo during the 'Draw animals using straight lines' task.

Alternate Titles

  • On Denmark's TV2 Play streaming platform, this episode is titled 'Flodhest', which translates as 'Hippopotamus'.
  • On Finland's MTV Katsomo streaming platform, this episode is titled 'Virtahepo', which translates as 'Hippopotamus'. [Translator credit: zador]
  • On Sweden's SVT Play streaming platform, this episode is titled 'Tysta drinken börjar nu!', which translates as 'Quietest drink starts now!'. This is wordplay on 'Quietest play starts now', the non-game that parents set their children, to get five minutes of peace. It's also referencing the 'Quietly make a cocktail' task. Taskmaster Intro

Hi there! Hello and welcome to another dip in the Taskmaster paddling pool of pain. As we venture into this latter part of the competition, the pressure on the competitors really starts to ramp up, their eyes fixed firmly on the prize - my golden head, which could also be any man's golden head, sculpted as it was by an artist who has now rightly gone back to teaching. Who are the jesters vying for this worthless bauble? I'll tell you.

    Assistant Intro

And next to me is a man who is to admin as a fly is to dog turd. It's... little Alex Horne!

    Taskmaster's Sign-off

So, what have we learnt today? We've learnt that in Britain, we're lucky that we can enjoy culinary experiences from all around the world. Why, just last week, I went to a restaurant with friends and when I asked for the bill, I was served a delicious plate of duck's lips. That's six down, four to go. But for now, here's tonight's winner, once more, it's Mawaan!
