Win the collaborative debate
- In this live team task, the contestants must argue for or against moots collaboratively as a team, by alternately saying lines or words of their arguments.
- This may be complicated further by rules stating that each second line must rhyme with the one before it, or that each word must be spoken into a shared microphone (while the contestants are fastened together, back-to-back).
- The teams may have a certain number of lines, or a certain time limit, within which they must make their arguments.
- The team which wins the most debates wins the task.
Original version
In this version of the task, the team members are seated at school desks, and must present six line arguments for or against each moot one line at a time, alternating between their team-members, with each second line rhyming with the one before it. Also, the teams alternate between arguing in the affirmative and the negative for each moot (although this is not apparent from the edit).
Adaptations
In this version of the task, the team members are fastened together, back-to-back, with belts, and must present their arguments for or against each moot one word at a time, rotating literally and figuratively between their team-members. Also, one team is always arguing in the affirmative, while the other is always arguing in the negative.
