Free yourselves and have a team hug

  • In this team task, the contestants must free themselves from some handcuffs and chains, and then have a team hug.
  • The chains are held together with a pair of combination locks, the codes for which must be deciphered by identifying the flavours of five bowls of sweets. The initial letters of those flavours correspond to the symbols of chemical elements on the periodic table, and the atomic weights of those elements provide the digits for the locks.
  • The key for the contestants' handcuffs is hidden in plain sight in the room, but is small enough that it is easy to miss.

Original version

In this version of the task, the contestants' restraints are chained to the ceiling, and the custom-flavoured sweets are jelly babies.

Adaptations

Placeholder cover image, picturing a wax-sealed task brief with a question mark on it.
In this version of the task, the contestants’ restraints are not chained to the ceiling, so they are more able to move around the space in which the task takes place (which happens to be a squash court). Also, the custom-flavoured sweets provided are not jelly babies, and have different flavours to enable their Swedish names to correctly correspond to the chemical symbols on the periodic table.
