Make the bookcases identical

  • In this task, the contestants are first instructed to choose a handicap for the task: wearing a blindfold; not using their hands (being handcuffed); or not entering the room where the task must be completed.
  • They are then instructed to make two bookcases identical. One of the bookcases is stocked with a variety of items, duplicates of which are available to the contestants, while the other is completely empty.

Adaptations

In this version of the task, many of the items on the bookshelf are different.
In this version of the task, there are far fewer items on the bookcase to match, and some of them are hidden inside a cabinet at the bottom. Also, the contestants get to see inside the room before they make their choice of handicap, so could potentially infer what the objective might be.
