Having only just wrapped up the filming on the studio segments for the new season a few days ago, Kongen Befaler continues to impress me with the speed of its post-production, with Discovery+ Norge now showing that episodes will begin airing from September 15th.

That website also features a trailer for the new season, giving us our first glimpse of the new panel of contestants in action.

I've now been able to acquire and add English subtitles to a copy of that trailer, which you can watch here:

So what can we learn from this video?

Well, first off, it seems that production has moved to a new Taskmaster house, this season. They've been using the same house for pre-filmed tasks since season 2, so this was definitely a surprise.

Secondly, of the five tasks from which highlights were included in the trailer, all of them are completely original.

We saw the following task briefs being read out:

  • "Eat the melba toast. Fastest wins." (The melba toast in question appears to be attached to a drone.)
  • "Remove all the balls from the ballpit."
  • "Attach the most weight to this magnet."
  • "Water this rose with water from this fountain. You may not move after the task begins."
  • "Throw this egg the furthest distance. The egg must be undamaged when you are done."

This hopefully bodes well for the number of original tasks across the season as a whole, continuing the trend of Kongen Befaler being one of the adaptations with the most new ideas of its own.

Finally, we got a glimpse at the personalities of the contestants. My first impressions, based on admittedly very little footage: Live Nelvik and Martha Leivestad are very excitable; Espen Eckbo is quite deadpan, but with moments of chaos; and Kristoffer Olsen is perhaps not the sharpest tool in the box. I didn't get any particular vibes from Henriette Steenstrup, but perhaps she is the essential calm, rational anchor in an otherwise chaotic line-up.

Very much looking forwards to getting to know them all better over the coming months!
