Biography

Henriette Steenstrup (born on 29 September 1974) is a Norwegian comedian and actress, best known for her role as Edel in comedy programmes such as Torsdag kveld fra Nydalen and Dritseint med Edel.

As a child, she wanted to become an actor, and appeared in the vignette of Kroppen as well as in Skomakergata and in Halvsju.

As an adult, she first became known through NRK1's children's programme Kykelikokos.

She is employed at the Nationaltheatret [National Theater], where she has played the title role in Pippi Longstocking and Hilde Wrangel in Byggmester Solness.

In 2008, she devised and started filming the TV2 series En god nummer to.

In 2009, she started in the TV2 programme Torsdag kveld fra Nydalen.

In 2014 she won the Komiprisen 2014 comedy award for female stage comedian of the year for her performance in the musical En får væra som en er, and was also nominated for the female comedian of the year award. She also appeared on TV2 as Edel Hammersmark Gjervan in the comedy programme Dritseint med Edel.

In 2019, she played the lead role as Liv in the drama film Barn, a role for which she won the Dragon Award during the Gothenburg Film Festival, and was nominated as best actress for the Kanonprisen 2019 and Amandaprisen 2020.

In 2020 and 2021, she was the host of the quiz show Alle mot alle on TVNorge, alongside Jon Almaas.

In 2021, the first season of the drama series Pørni, created by, written by, and starring Henriette, premiered on Viaplay. She won the Seriekritikerprisen for best actor in 2021, and the series was named best Norwegian comedy.
