Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Instead of attempting to cry, Enio instead raises the eggcup and delivers a toast, proclaiming that in a world where one can cry from sorrow or joy, that one should strive to make others cry out of laughter, and that one should dry someone else's tears if they are able. Enio collects a total of zero tears but earns one point.
  • Igor begins by chopping onions. He then proceeds to sniff hot sauce off of the blade of the knife and wipe some of the chopped onion under his eyes. He finally resorts to holding his eyes open. He collects a total of 11 tears and earns three points.
  • Ana chops onions while listening to Magazin (a Croatian pop band). At some point, she does something with the hot sauce – perhaps putting it on the chopped onions. She collects a total of 24 tears and earns five points.
  • Lidija chops onions. She then sends Luka out to get her some more supplies and, while he is absent, spits into the cup. One of the cameramen starts to tear up, and so his tears are added to Lidija's cup. Lidija collects a 15 tears, as well as 3 of the cameraman's tears, for a total of 18 tears, and earns four points.
  • Ante starts by cutting onions and rubbing them both under and on his eyes. He then rubs hot sauce under and around his eyes, which he quickly realises is a mistake – not because of the pain, but because the heat stops him from tearing up. He collects a total of 11 tears and earns two points.
