Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Al brings in his stove from home, which features a small digital clock display. He claims that his clock comes with a hot plate, five gas rings, two fan ovens, and a drawer for keeping stuff in. Greg confirms with Al that he sees it as a clock with an oven attached, and awards him 4 points.
- Dave brings in his microwave oven, which features a digital clock display. He claims that it is more flamboyant than an Al’s oven because it uses microwaves, and they are “magic”. However, Greg disagrees, and awards Dave 3 points.
- Paul brings in a very plain-looking pop clock which he claims is flamboyant because you can wear it with any item of clothing. He’s apparently owned it for 30 years. Greg questions where the flamboyance is, with the clock, but Paul just repeats that you can wear it with items of clothing that are flamboyant, such as “a kilt”. Greg awards Paul just 1 point.
- Rob brings in a sundial designed to resemble a tortoise. He jokingly claims that he is always late in the winter, but much more prompt in the summer. Greg suggests that it’s something that his mother would think is “whacky”. Rob asks if Greg’s mother is flamboyant, and Greg agrees that she probably is. Although Greg can’t explain his decision, he gives Rob 2 points.
- Sara brings in a clock designed as merchandise for the rock band Queen, which features an image of Freddie Mercury. She says it was a present to her boyfriend, and that he doesn’t know she’s brought it in. Greg questions if she owns it, and she says that she’d bought it as a present, so she can take it back at any time. Rob asks if she actually just wants to get rid of it, but Sara claims that she really wants to win the episode. Greg awards her 5 points for bringing in the most flamboyant clock.
