Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Mahamad declares that they need a flagpole, so he goes outside. In a riding ring ostensibly near the Stormester house (seemingly the same location as used in the S5 “hide the coconut” task), Habane plants a flag and ties a bottle filled with flour and sugar to it. His plan is to swing the bottle around so the powder forms a circle. However, this means that Mahamad is drawing a white circle on beige sand, and the result is not very visible. Mahamad’s attempt was shown with Jakob's, and Mahamad points out that if the two had switched courses, they both would have done well: the powder would have been very visible on the grass, and the sand from the horse-riding arena would have been much easier for Jacob to dig a circle into. However, some semblance of an actual circle is still visible, so Mahamad earns third place.
  • Jakob decides to draw a circle outside on the grass. He ties a long rope around Mark’s waist and shuffles in a circle around him, hoping to stomp down the grass enough that it forms a circle. Not only is stomping the grass more difficult than he’d realised, but Jakob is also inconsistent with keeping the rope taut; if it was visible, Jakob’s circle would likely have been much more of an oblong shape. With time running out, Jakob makes a haphazard circle with the rope. Jakob’s attempt was shown with Mahamad's, and Mahamad points out that if the two had switched courses, they both would have done well: the powder Mahamad used would have been very visible on the grass, and the sand from the horse-riding arena would have been much easier for Jacob to dig a circle into. Jakob earns last place.
  • Neel decides that the circle needs to be drawn outside. Whatever she had in mind is not shown, because she quickly retrieves a globe from somewhere in the house and draws a line around the globe’s equator, reasoning that not only is her circle very circular, but that the Earth itself is quite large (in the studio, Lasse says that the equator is 40,000km; Mark says that the globe is 88cm). Neel earns second place.
  • Anders calls a friend, television journalist Rasmus Tantholdt, and requests usage of his speedboat. Anders asks Rasmus to drive him and Mark out into the ocean and drive in the biggest circle he can manage in the allotted time. It’s not quite clear if Anders meant for the circle to be made from the wake left by the boat, or by the path driven as shown via the boat’s GPS. Either way, the GPS route shows a smaller lopsided circle and a very long half circle that looks like an ear. Anders earns fourth place.
  • Annika ties a rope to a tree in the middle of the Stormester yard, and ties a can of spray paint to the other end. She then slowly and methodically sprays a circle into the grass. Because Annika used an unmovable centre (unlike Jakob), and kept the line taut (unlike Jakob and Mahamad), she ends up with a very circular circle. Annika wins the task.
