Josh seeks approbation from lesser Tom
As Josh enters the room and takes a closer look at the seagull on the helmet, Tom has to warn him to be careful, as he gets his face very close to its spike.
After putting on the helmet, he successfully pops a balloon and collects some chips. After he pops another balloon and catches a poker chip, Tom instructs him to tip out his basket.
After successfully collecting some more chips and getting no congratulations from Tom Cashman, he says “Sometimes I wish you were more proud of me.”
With chips in his basket, Josh voices he concern that it is starting to become a gamble as to whether to risk popping more balloons. However, he decides to continue, and says he thinks he’s getting better at it. He is very happy with himself when he successfully pops two in a row.
Tom blows his whistle just as Josh says “I actually don’t think there are any chips left.”
In the studio, Tom Gleeson comments that it was quite a “needy” performance, in that Josh was so worried about getting feedback from Tom Cashman. Josh exclaims “Oh, babe. You don’t know what it like out there.” He goes on to describe Tom Cashman as “a sort of a person but not really a person”.
Josh then says that he really just wants to know if he’d got more chips than Anne, and points out that some of her chips were “mushy”. Tom Cashman confirms that this was taken into account, which pleases Josh.
Josh collects 31 chips in total, and earns 3 points.
