Eero overthinks it
Eero initially misreads the original task brief (‘Tämä ei ole tehtäväsi’ – ‘This is not your task’) as “Tämä ei ole tehtävä” (‘This is not a task’). Despite catching this error, he then re-reads the task brief and makes the same mistake again. These errors may influence his next actions, as Eero soon paces around the room, looking at all of the task envelopes on the walls, but never attempting to open or look inside any of them.
Eero continues to worry about the wording of the task brief, even wondering if he’s meant to read one of the many other envelopes present in the room, before stopping himself, as he is convinced that they are connected to whatever task is not meant for him. He therefore decides that he has no task or, rather, that his task is to do nothing, and just leave the room.
After reading the initial task brief once again, Eero confirms his decision and leaves, and Pilvi stops the clock with a glance at the camera.
Eero is later shown speaking to one of the camera operators, explaining that all of the tasks on the wall were just a “smoke screen”, and that the real task was just to leave the room.
In the studio, Eero stands by his interpretation, but struggles to explain the logical thought process behind it. However, he insists that if a task says ‘This is not the task’, then a task does not exist.
Pirjo backs him up, though uses her unique ‘Pirjo logic’ to explain it, saying that under Eero’s interpretation, touching any of the other envelopes could have been like a penalty in a sports game, causing some sort of buzzer to sound (this just confuses Eero).
When Jaakko later points out that neither Eero nor Arman have yet to complete the task, Eero is the first to whistle, and he therefore earns fourth place.
