Joonas briefly tastes victory

After reading the task brief, Joonas wonders if he’s forbidden from asking Pilvi to help him drink. Pilvi replies that Joonas is allowed to ask, but informs him that she will not help.

Joonas picks up the pitcher and starts carefully pouring its contents into his mouth in a slow trickle. He slowly makes his way through the pitcher in this way, noting that he’s particularly interested in keeping his (white) shirt clean and dry, as he has plans for the evening after filming.

At some point, Joonas forgets the rule about keeping his mouth open, as he starts closing his mouth to swallow. As evidenced by his task completion time, this seems to have coincided with an increase in speed. At the end of his attempt, Joonas’ pitcher is empty, and his shirt is still clean.

Joonas completes the task in 3 minutes and 6 seconds, and is initially awarded first place. However, after Pirjo’s successful objection to Jaakko’s rankings, he is knocked down to last place, as he had closed his mouth several times.

Although Joonas expresses shock over these results, he seems to have seen it coming – when Pirjo had wanted to bring up Joonas’ rule infractions earlier in the task, he’d pointed out that they had yet to address anyone’s mistakes (as not everyone had been seen attempting the task at that point), and when Jaakko initially awards Joonas the win, Joonas gestures to Pirjo to hold on her objection, before subsequently telling her to voice it after all of the scores have been awarded.
