Josh handles the Foley
Josh is in charge of the sound effects for Lloyd’s martial arts film.
He reads the introductory voiceover in a deep voice, and the sound of Master Snake disappearing in a puff of smoke is created by him tipping a bottle of cola upside down and letting in trickle out.
During the training montage scene, he creates the crackling sound of fire by twisting something small in his hands which can’t quite be made out on screen. He uses a pine cone against a grater to create the whittling noises, brushes his sleeves together for the shoe shining, and scrapes something against a stick to make the sound of objects being thrown. He creates the noise for the sound of the tube flying through the air by blowing while oscillating his finger in front of his mouth, and then finally makes the sound of the tube hitting the tree by simply saying “Boing”.
Josh creates various punching noises for the fight scenes by smacking various objects together, such as boots, books, balloons, and boards. He also smacks a chair, and lets Tom punch his hands. He adds voices for the punks as they are beaten up, and the ear-biting sound is created by him crunching something which isn’t caught on camera.
His sound effects for the final dramatic strangling consist of him twisting and crushing a plastic bottle, snapping spaghetti, and then throwing a book on the floor.
Tom Gleeson awards Josh 5 points for his “beautiful sound effects”.
