Task brief

The task brief is stuck into the narrow end of an old-fashioned director’s megaphone, stood on the table in the study. The brief for the task is as follows:

Collaborate on a short action film.

The action film must have a script, a hero, a villain, music, and sound effects.

Your job on the action film is written on your chair.

Best contribution to the action film wins.

You have 45 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

A folding chair of the type used on movie sets has been set up behind the table, with a different word printed on it for each contestant, indicating their role in the movie: Lloyd is assigned as the scriptwriter; Anne is assigned as the composer; Josh is assigned to sound effects; Jenny is assigned as the hero; and Wil is assigned as the villain.
For Lloyd, a clipboard with pen and paper is provided for him to write his script.
For Jenny and Wil, a copy of Lloyd’s script is provided on the table for them to work from.
For Anne, a variety of musical instruments and a microphone are set up on and around the table, for her to use to compose her score.
For Josh, two acoustic screens have been set up around the table, and a microphone and headset is provided, for him to use to record his sound effects.
It appears that Jenny’s and Wil’s parts were shot and edited together before the footage was then provided on Tom Cashman’s tablet, for Anne and Josh to work from.
