Lucy falls victim to the sunk-cost fallacy
Lucy initially asks Alex for a fishing rod and a magnet, and Alex responds only that he has a shed.
Lucy searches the shed, and returns with her arms loaded with tools, including a fishing net, a rake, a leaf-blower, a sled, and a tray.
She pushes the sled onto the stage so that it stops halfway between the edge of the stage and the clown, and then asks Alex to sit on it. After he does so, Lucy puts her entire deck of cards on a tray in his hand. It is only at this point that Alex informs Lucy that he will not put any of the cards into the clown’s mouth for her.
However, Lucy is fixated on her idea at this point, and is unable to see any other way to get the cards into the clown’s mouth. She therefore attempts to use the leaf-blower to blow her cards off of the tray, onto the sled, and then towards the clown.
Lucy ultimately gets no cards into the clown’s mouth, but is then also disqualified after Alex plays additional footage revealing that her hand had crossed the threshold, while blowing the cards.
