Jonas is foiled by an artichoke

During his season, Jonas was well-known for arriving on the scene for every task with a cup of coffee in hand, and this is a habit he has continued in the Champion of Champions special. However, instead of thinking to throw his coffee at the fuse to extinguish the flame, Jonas instead fumbles with his mobile phone to take a picture of the task brief before it bursts into flame.

With a permanent record of the complete task brief in hand, Jonas then sets about fulfilling all of the instructions, starting by attacking the banana with what appears to be a dustpan, before kicking it down the driveway. He then charms the didgeridoo by calling it “frisky”.

Jonas take another look at the photo, and spots the alphabetical pattern in the instruction. He eliminates the draught beer by drinking it (he is something of a draught beer connoisseur), headbutts the mannequin head, throws the laminator into the garden, and squeezes the elf.

Jonas discovers the parrot’s quiz by actually reading the question on it (‘What colour is Mark’s blue suit?’), and then proceeds to shake the bag of candy, unravel the wool, and measure the wok and xylophone.

Jonas then pities the zebra by lamenting that it was drawn on with marker, before dropping the trout pillow into a small bucket full of water (thus literally changing its stream).

Through his entire task attempt, Jonas has been tossing his used items away from the garden arch, once he has completed their actions. This results in the otherwise empty garden arch holding only the artichoke – which is meant to be ignored. Jonas looks over at the garden arch and notices the artichoke, wondering out loud what he was meant to do with it. As he checks his photo again, and tells Mark that it’s a good thing he’d noticed the artichoke, it dawns on him why the artichoke had been left untouched. Mark and Jonas hug in conciliation over his nearly-perfect run.

Jonas solves 12 of the 13 tasks, and earns second place.
