Leo builds a ramp

Prior to the first part of Leo’s attempt being shown, Kristoffer had been shown talking about how a contestant would need to know how to make knekk in order to make a long bridge.

Naturally, the footage then cuts to Leo making a complete mess of the process, stirring together sugar, icing sugar, and water in a saucepan, before adding gelatin (in the form of the Seigmenn) for good measure. Leo’s mess boils over and spills onto the ground, but seems to be sticky enough to actually hold the sheets of gingerbread together.

Leo anchors one end of his bridge in the mouth of the taxidermy Norwegian red deer next to the staircase, draping the rest of it over various items in the study to keep it off of the ground.

It would be generous to call Leo’s construction a bridge – it much more closely resembles a ramp or slide. However, he is able to duck underneath the part of his bridge that runs between the taxidermy deer and the next object.

In the studio, Olli clarifies that, in terms of the task, a bridge is considered to be something that has a foundation, and is raised above the ground. As such, much of Leo’s 560cm construction is not actually considered valid – and only the 58cm section from the taxidermy deer to the first item Leo had used to hold his bridge above the floor is measured.

Leo therefore earns fourth place.
