Behrouz focuses on a single egg

When Behrouz removes the task brief from the bowl of eggs, he accidentally knocks an egg onto the table, where – despite his best efforts to catch it – it breaks, spilling yolk all over his hand. Behrouz carefully puts the broken egg back into the bowl, while David stares at it with concern.

After reading the task brief, Behrouz leaves the lab and returns with a heavy decorative marble slab. He then empties the bowl of eggs, and overturns the empty bowl on top of a single egg, on top of which he then places the marble slab.

Behrouz then leaves the lab and returns with several heavy books, at which point David questions whether the weight is actually on the egg, or just on the bowl. After a brief debate with David, Behrouz reasons that if the egg were to touch the underside of the glass bowl, then his argument would be strengthened. He sources a blanket and places it on the table beneath the egg, lifting the egg enough that it makes contact with the underside of the glass bowl.

Behrouz then places several heavy books on top of the marble slab, and tops it all off with a taxidermy owl (which he admits is more about the presentation than the weight). He then waits out the rest of his time.

In the studio, Babben acknowledges Behrouz’s logic, and says that she definitely would not have allowed his solution prior to him adding the blanket.

Behrouz places 54.2kg of weight onto his egg, which remained intact. David clarifies that since the egg Behrouz had broken was broken prior to his reading of the task brief, it was not counted against him. Behrouz therefore wins the task.
