Joanne’s fantasy comes true
Before starting the task, Joanne is astounded by the dome full of stuffed animals, sharing that it looks like a fantasy of hers. After Alex says that the crew puts a lot of research into the show, Joanne says she’s aroused.
After reading the task brief, Joanne notices the pole with the boxing glove. She then spots Patatas inside the dome and insults her by saying she “looks like a bad job of taxidermy”, and suggesting that she wouldn’t rescue a cat like that if it was hers.
Joanne attempts to make a noose to slip around the cat, using a hook and some velcro. She climbs up onto a step-ladder, in an awkward fashion, and pokes the pole with its noose through one of the holes in the side of the dome. However as she tries to angle the pole correctly, she also falls off of the ladder.
Joanne eventually manages to slip the noose around one of Patatas’s paws and get hold of her. She decides to then try to throw the cat through the hole in the top of the dome, but Patatas hits the edge of one of the surrounding panels and falls back down. Joanne laughs defeatedly and states that she can’t go through all of that again, as she has no more hooks left.
Joanne initially switches to trying to use a leaf blower to blow Patatas over to the other side of the dome, but then instead decides to use the pole to drag the cat back over towards her.
Once she has finally managed to grab Patatas, Joanne considers how she might get it out through the top hole. She decides to tie a rope around the neck of the cat, climb back up on the stepladder, and drop Patatas back into the dome through the hole before retrieving her again.
In the studio, Greg points out that Joanne had looked very pleased with herself, when she came up with the rope idea, and so asks to see her facial expression from that exact moment again. John chimes in at this point, saying that the image would be very unsettling if they didn’t know what the task was (since it appears that Joanne is about to insert her finger into Patatas’ backside), prompting Greg to suggest that they’re back in “crab and robot territory” (referencing John’s prize task submission).
Alex reveals that Joanne had taken 22 minutes and 20 seconds to complete the task. As the audience applauds this result, Alex suggests they hold their applause, since Steve’s time was drastically shorter.
Joanne earns fourth place and 2 points.
