Nick has a problem with his tube
Nick immediately tears his toilet roll, while trying to unstick the end, so has to start the task with his hands in the air for 10 seconds.
He then tears it again after having removed maybe a few feet of the roll, so has to stop again. Alex’s confused oversight of the time penalties causes him to resume his activity too early, leading Alex to shout at him to hold him back another couple of seconds.
Nick continues to remain standing fairly still behind his plinth, trying to carefully unravel all of the paper, but it eventually tears again, and again he gets confused by Alex’s signals marking the end of other contestants’ penalties, and attempts to resume the task too early himself.
Having unravelled a decent amount of slack paper, he attempts to start inserting it through the tube. Eventually, he admits to having a problem with his tube, revealing that it’s completely blocked with compressed toilet roll.
Nick ultimately decides that the solution to his problem is to remove the tube from the middle of the roll and unravel that into a flat piece of cardboard, which he then wraps loosely around a messy bundle of toilet paper while asking Alex if that counts as having completed the task. Alex leaves it to Nick to decide whether he thinks he’s finished the task, but notes that the footage will then be analysed afterwards. Nick decides to proceed with his solution, and so claims to have finished the task third.
However, after reviewing the footage of Nick’s technique, Greg rules that he’s clearly just “ripped the tube open” and “wrapped it around some of the tissue”, and Nick is therefore disqualified from the task, along with everyone else but Joanne.
