Episode synopsis

In this episode the contestants must bring in the best pair of things, make a moustache from something unexpected, transfer rice to a bottle, convey an object to their team-mates through limited means of communication, travel as far as possible while making a continuous noise, and then name birds while eating grapes.

Title context

'A novel about Russian Gulags' was where Greg Davies said he expected to hear comments like that made by Joe Thomas, at the end of his attempt at the 'Travel the furthest while making a continuous noise' task.
