Do the right thing
- In this task the contestants are given a wordy task brief which includes a series of compound negative clauses about whether they should or should not ring a bell, and they have to determine what they are actually being told to do.
- In some versions, the contestants are given a minor physical task to do while they make their decision, both as a distraction and in order to slow them down.
Adaptations








In this version of the task, the contestants must first make and wear a popcorn necklace, before either ringing or not ringing the bell. The contestants are scored according to how quickly they do the right thing. However, anyone who does not do the right thing loses 5 points.

In this festive version of the task, the contestants must figure out whether they should put on a Santa hat, bite the head off of a marzipan pig, and ring some sleigh bells. Those who do the wrong things are disqualified, but no-one actually loses points.
