Task brief

The task brief is laid on a small side table in the study. The brief for the task is as follows:

Make a popcorn necklace from at least five pieces of popcorn.

Wear it, and then do the opposite of this:

You absolutely must in no case not avoid not ringing the bell.

The task is over when you have rung the bell, or not, and said ‘I did the right thing’ three times.

If you don’t do the right thing, you lose 5 points in this episode.

Your time began when you started reading.

Task notes

  • Also on the table, there is a small bucket of popcorn, a needle and spool of thread, and an ornate service bell.
  • The study has been dramatically lit for the task.
  • It appears that the task brief for this adaptation of the task was slightly mistranslated, leaving out one of the final ‘not’s, and meaning that the correct response to the brief is actually to not ring the bell. However, the contestants’ attempts are judged according to the correct response for the original version of the task when, in reality, all of their scores should be the opposite of what they got, based on the actual task brief used.
