Biography
Barbro Karin Viola Westerlund Larsson (born on 29 October 1956), better known as Babben, is a Swedish actress, comedian, and singer.
Babben attended the Teaterhögskolan in Stockholm between 1977 and 1980.
She has been active in the S.U.C.K. (Stand Up Comedy Club) since 1988 and was a member of the comedy group R.E.A. (Roligt Elakt Aktuellt).
In 1992, Swedish astronomer Claes-Ingvar Lagerkvist named one of the asteroids in the asteroid belt, 10795 Babben after her.
She performed as a stand up comedian in the UK in 1996 and made a couple of appearances on British television.
After many years of intense touring, she took a long break from the stand-up comedy in 1998, switching to lecturing on fitness, singing jazz with trios and big bands around Sweden and, in the autumn of 1998, playing the role of compere in the musical Cabaret with Gotlands länsteater.
In 2006, she was voted the most popular female comedian in Sweden in the popular TV programme Folktoppen.
She appeared in the TV show Parlamentet and had her own talk show, Babben & Co, in 2007.
In 2009, she appeared in the tragicomic play Obesvarad kärlek at Intiman in Stockholm, where she portrayed the amateur opera diva Florence Foster Jenkins.
She has also been active as a director, including on The Sex Guru with Stefan Sauk, which was released in 2012.
