Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Steinar is initially stressed, until he finds a tennis racket. He tries it briefly, and is immediately happy with his choice, despite not checking how much the pedometer was counting. He starts his time and begins to bounce the pedometer on the tennis racket rapidly, using his other hand to make sure it doesn’t fall off (which it did). The pedometer records 212 steps, which puts Steinar in last place.
- Ida goes through several ideas initially, the first one being holding two buckets and shaking the pedometer inside of them. She then tries riding on a bike, riding down a hill before realising it has no brakes. In the end, she just runs around on the streets and shakes the pedometer in her hand for most of the 90 seconds. She records a total of 256 steps, earning fourth place.
- Amir rapidly shakes both of his hands, only one of which is holding the pedometer, while making very small shuffling steps around the house. He stops walking near the end of his time and just shakes his hands vigorously on the spot. After the attempt, Solveig states that she thinks she loves Amir. He records 264 steps and earns third place.
- Einar decides to tape the pedometer to the end of a drill so that it will spin round really quickly. He attaches the pedometer successfully, and keeps hold of the drill while wearing a hat. He turns it on and holds it for the full 90 seconds, talking periodically about how tiring it is. The pedometer measures 612 steps and Einar earns first place.
- Solveig goes to the shed and finds a wheeled walker frame, which she starts to run with, and then decides to use for her attempt. She attaches the pedometer to one of the walker’s wheels and starts to run around with it. Eventually, she gives up on this, and instead sits on the floor, spinning the wheel manually with her hand. In the studio, she predicts that she achieved 1,000 steps. In reality, it was only 328 steps, but she still earned second place.
