Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Kiell and Alex's first dance is to the song Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind & Fire. It starts out with them lying on their fronts, on the decking, facing one another, and then performing 'the worm' dance move. They then stand up, and perform a series of coordinated dance moves together, culminating in Kiell jumping up into Alex's arms. In the studio, Greg has nothing negative to say, and suggests that the performance was the best thing that Alex had ever done. He awards Kiell first place, noting that his dance was the one that he most wanted to be a part of.
- Frankie and Alex's first dance is to the song Today’s Your Day (Whachagonedu) by Fatlip. They arrive on the decking arm-in-arm, with Frankie wearing a blonde wig and a wedding dress over his existing clothes, and carrying some roses. The dance itself is pretty generic and does not appear to have been choreographed in any way, except for the ending, where Frankie dips Alex and kisses him on the lips. In the studio, Greg characterises the dance as "rubbish", and describes the performance as "just a man heavy-breathing in a dress", and the climactic kiss as "the most stomach-churning kiss that's ever been televised". Unsurprisingly, he awards Frankie last place.
- Jenny and Alex's first dance is to the tune of Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner. Jenny is wearing a wedding dress over her regular outfit, and Alex appears to be wearing a pork pie hat. The dance begins with them shaking their fists at one another, and then bowing at one another, before they circle the giant golden pineapple in the middle of the decking, making graceful arm movements. They then join arms before bowing once more, and then breaking into a more free-form, expressive dance, in which Jenny erotically caresses her own body. The pair then shake their fists at one another again, before shaking hands, and parting ways. In the studio, Greg describes the performance as "like a scene from a Victorian insane asylum". However, he ends up awarding her third place.
- Ivo and Alex's first dance is to the song Dizzy by The Wonder Stuff and Vic Reeves (apparently one of Greg's favourite songs). The performance begins with Ivo climbing over Linda the cow, whom he and Alex had previously been seen moving onto the decking. Alex then joins him on the decking, and the pair link arms and spin around several times. Ivo then stands on a circular balance board, and Alex holds his hands while skipping around him, rotating him in the process. Both men then grab and place rotating stools, which they take turns sitting upon while the other dances around them, rotating them once again. The dance is supposed to end with them both sitting on their stools and holding hands, but Ivo manages to lose his balance and ends up on the decking. In the studio, Ivo points out that The Wonder Stuff's other songs include Size of a Cow, hence his inclusion of Linda in the performance. Greg states that the dance was "rubbish", but admits that Ivo's strategy of trying to ingratiate himself with Greg is working, since he's considering giving him more points. However, he ultimately awards Ivo fourth place, stating that all he'd done was "jump over a cow and spin round in circles".
- Mae and Alex's first dance is to the tune of Zorba the Greek by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. The dance begins in the style of the traditional Greek dance associated with the style of music (as depicted in an iconic scene of the movie by the same name). It then becomes less regimented as the music speeds up, and the pair starts jumping up and down and clapping, while spinning round, before ending on a long embrace. At the end of the dance, Mae states that they feel emotional, and observes that "this is what our lives together would be like", to which Alex reacts by simply turning and walking away. In the studio, Greg is impressed by the performance, and eventually admits that he enjoyed the emotional content of Mae's dance, but awards them second place.
