Task briefs

The briefs for the task are as follows:

Write down the name of an animal, vegetable, or vehicle, and hand it to Paul.

Using the canvas behind you, communicate to the Taskmaster what your animal, vegetable, or vehicle is.

You may not turn around while working on your canvas.

You must not tamper with your backpack.

When you are ready for the Taskmaster to guess, stand next to your canvas.

If he guesses wrong, you may alter your canvas and try again.

Fastest correctly guessed animal, vegetable, or vehicle wins.

Task notes

The contestants are lined up side-by-side on stage, each standing next to an easel upon which there is a grey canvas.
Each contestant is wearing a backpack on which a thick black marker pen has been mounted, perpendicular to their backs.
Before the task brief is read, they write down their chosen animal, vegetable, or vehicle on a small card, which Paul then collects from them.
Each contestant is provided with a small hand mirror, which they may use to look at what they are doing, while remaining facing forwards.
