Task brief

The task brief is attached to the hilt of a sword trapped in a stone in the garden, outside of Mark’s house. The brief for the task is as follows:

Pull the sword from the stone.

You must not force the sword up, or destroy the stone.

The winner is the one who pulls the sword first.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • The sword must be released by saying the correct password: ‘Fuhlendorff’, referring to the season 1 and Champion of Champions winner Christian Fuhlendorff. There are multiple clues to this solution in the garden and inside Mark’s house, as follows:
    • An inscription along the base of the stone itself refers to “the winner who among all winners has won the most”, referring to Christian having won both his season and the first Champion of Champions special.
    • All of the letters in Christian’s last name are scattered around Mark’s house.
    • On one of the walls of Mark’s house, there are framed photos of all of the Stormester champions to date, except for Christian himself. These photos are actually present on the wall throughout the season, with Christian’s photo usually in the centre, and either Annika Aakjær’s or Hadi Ka-koush’s picture at the top left. However, during this task, Christian’s photo is replaced with whichever picture was previously at the top left.
    • On another wall inside Mark’s house, there is a picture of Mark holding up a sign which appears to be celebrating his first one-man show. However, the celebratory text on the sign is actually comprised of the titles of all of Christian Fuhlendorff’s one-man shows, including Mit første one man show (‘My first one-man show’), Enestående (‘Exceptional’), For at gøre en kort historie lang (‘To make a long story short’), Det er ligegyldigt hva’ andre tænker, ikk’? (‘It doesn't matter what others think, right?’), and Går over i historien – dele 1 og 2 (‘Going down in history – parts 1 and 2’).
    • On the table in Mark’s house, there is a basket full of seemingly random items of food, representing all of the things Christian was eating when he arrived at the scene of tasks during his time on the show.
    • There is a novelty-sized toothbrush in one of the windows of Mark’s house, referencing the 2012 TV game show Husk lige tandbørsten (‘Remember the Toothbrush’, an adaptation of the British show Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush), which Christian co-hosted.
    • There is also a clothes iron in the window, referencing Christian's first TV performance during a comedy charity show, which he started while holding such an iron.
    • There are multiple bird figurines of various sizes scattered around Mark’s house and the garden. The Danish word for bird is ‘fugl’, which sounds similar to the ‘Fuhl’ in Christian’s last name.
    • The top of a bureau inside Mark’s house has been set up to depict a village filled with bird figurines. Underneath one of the houses in the village, there is a German-Danish dictionary. Inside the dictionary, one of the pages has been marked, and the word ‘Dorf’ has been highlighted on that page (a German word for ‘village’). The scene therefore represents ‘birds in village’, or ‘fugle en Dorf’, which sounds very similar to ‘Fuhlendorff’.
    • One of the bird figurines is an owl, which has been placed in a tree in the garden, and has an extra task brief attached to it, which reads ‘Få uglen derop FF’ (‘Get the owl up there FF’). This also sounds somewhat like ‘Fuhlendorff’, provided that one pronounces the sound of the ‘F’s, rather than saying the name of the letter.
    • In Mark’s mailbox, there is an empty wine bottle with a label which reads:
      This is not wine.
      This is an anagram.
      Hils Chef Tonfri Fundra.
      Or the answer is
      ‘Cathlin Sniffer Forhud’.
‘Hils Chef Tonfri Fundra’ (a nonsense phrase) and ‘Cathlin Sniffer Forhud’ (‘Cathlin Sniffs Foreskin’) are both anagrams of ‘Christian Fuhlendorff’.
    • Beneath the clothesline in the garden, there is an empty hole in the ground labelled with a sign which reads ‘Her bor kaninen’ (‘The rabbit lives here’). This is a reference to Christian's podcast, Op af kaninhullet ('Up the rabbit hole').
    • Mark also greets each of the contestants by saying "Hva så" ('What's up?'), which is the name of Christian's other podcast.
