Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Count the popcorn popped.

Closest to the correct amount wins.

Simultaneously, the Taskmaster will conduct a pop quiz.

You must pop a balloon of your assigned colour to submit an answer.

Each correct answer will offset your popcorn count five pops closer to the correct amount.

Each wrong answer will take your answer five pops further away from the correct amount.

Task notes

The contestants are lined up side-by-side on stage, each wearing a hi-vis vest of a different colour.
On the floor around their feet, there are a large number of inflated balloons in colours matching their vests, but all mixed up.
In the centre of the stage, there is a microwave sat upon two plinths. Inside the microwave, there is a bag of microwave popcorn.
The questions asked by Jeremy during the task are as follows:

- The Grand Canyon lies in which American state? (Arizona)

- Have there been less or more than 1,628 All Blacks? (Less)
- What colours are on the flag of the Ivory Coast? (Orange, white and green)
At the end of the task, the contestants write down their guesses for the number of pops on a small chalkboard.
The correct number of popcorn pops was 371.
