Task brief

The task brief is laid on the table in the living room. The brief for the task is as follows:

Discover the name of the person in the lab.

You must take it in turns to ask one question, and the person may only say ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

The other team members must remain in this room until the questioner returns.

Each person in your team must address the person in the lab by their correct name before the task is complete.

Task notes

There are seats at the table for each team member.
There is a woman (named Louise) sat on a stool at the table in the lab, wearing a sweatshirt which has the name ‘Thompson’ printed on the right side of the chest – a reference to the 1980s British pop group Thompson Twins, hinting at the fact that the woman is a twin.
There is an identical stool on the opposite side of the table for the contestants to sit on while they ask their questions (if they choose).
After the first contestant to ask a question leaves the lab, the woman switches places with her twin, Lyndsey, who is hidden inside the small bathroom adjacent to the lab. They then continue to swap places after each contestant’s visit.
Due to the fact that each of the members of the team of three will alternately meet both twins, they do not need to figure out the names of both sisters – they need only identify one name and then keep returning to the lab and asking if that’s the present twin’s name until they have all addressed her correctly. Since each member of the team of two only ever meets one of the twins, they must identify both of their names in order to correctly address both sisters.
