Task brief

The task brief is laid on top of some rubber ducks on the table in the living room. The brief for the task is as follows:

Go and sit in the entrance lobby on Alex’s horn, and return on Alex’s whistle.

Every time you return, you must answer Alex’s question within 30 seconds.

You cannot change your answer.

Alex will ask you 10 questions.

Task notes

There are 63 rubber ducks arranged on a turntable on the table in the living room at the start of the task. All but one of them are yellow, and the central one is blue.
Also in the living room, there is a chalkboard on an easel with 10 numbered lines drawn on it.
Alex is equipped with a bulb horn and a whistle to signal to the contestants when they must leave and return to the living room.
A comfortable chair has been placed in front of the front door in the hallway for the contestants to sit on while they wait to be called back.
Each time Alex sends the contestants out of the room (except for the sixth and tenth time), he removes one of the rubber ducks and places it on a plinth which has been positioned outside the house but is accessible through the living room window. He then asks the contestants “What’s missing?”.
On the sixth instance of sending the contestants out of the room, Alex instead retrieves one of the removed ducks and replaces it in the room before asking them “What’s new?”.
After bringing the contestants back into the living room for the last time, Alex asks them “What connects all the correct answers?”.
To distract the contestants from what has actually changed in the room each time, Alex also either rotates the turntable with the ducks on, or moves all of the ducks to different positions in the room.
There’s also a bunch of nonsense red herring clues happening in the hallway which I can’t be bothered to write up here, since they have no bearing on anything.
At one point during the task, while the contestants are awaiting in the hallway, a member of the production team emerges from the adjacent toilet wearing a duck mask and a long black cloak.
