Eero tacks on English words

Eero’s strategy for his English words is to say something in Finnish, and then repeat it in English. While he likely talks about other things that are not shown (as ultimately, it is confirmed that Eero had used exactly five English words during his walk) this strategy is the focus of the footage shown of his attempt.

At the end of an unaired conversation topic with Pilvi, Eero says “That’s how it is” in Finnish, before saying “That’s life” in English.

After Eero asks Pilvi if she has been swimming recently and Pilvi replies that, during the summer, she had gone “maybe three times”, Eero muses over her answer, saying “three times” in both Finnish and English.

Eero then talks about going ice-hole swimming, saying that it’s wonderful, before emphasising (in English) that it’s “nice”.

Eero eventually ends his walk, saying “Thank you for the walking company”.

In the studio, when Jaakko asks Eero if he thought his strategy of tacking on English words was successful, Eero replies that the conversation came out clearly, then finishes by stating, in English, “clearly”. Jaakko jokingly replies that Eero’s response was lovely, before adding on the English word “nice” afterwards.

Eero takes a moment to state that he’d found the task particularly stressful, noting that having to keep track of so many requirements had made him “go fully mad”, which the rest of the contestants agree with.

It is revealed that Eero and Pilvi had walked 133 steps, leading Jaakko to award him a single point. When Eero attempts to argue against this score, pointing out that he had both ended the walk correctly, and used exactly five English words, Jaakko counters that Eero had walked the fewest steps out of all of the contestants, and he stands firm on his ruling.
