Joonas breaks up with Pilvi
Joonas almost immediately gets his five English word requirement out of the way, by saying “It’s a very nice walk”.
He then starts counting his steps out loud, arguing that the conversation requirement could effectively be fulfilled by counting aloud for the entire walk. Pilvi rhetorically asks Joonas if he considers counting to be a nice chat, which reminds him that the conversation needs to be ‘cheerful’.
Joonas switches tack, attempting to get Pilvi to talk by asking what she has been up to over the summer. When Pilvi unhelpfully replies that she’s done “nothing special”, Joonas shares that he hasn’t, either.
When Pilvi (amusingly, given her character) points out to Joonas that he is being tight-lipped during their conversation, Joonas claims that she is making him “a little nervous”. He says he believes that she is being particularly distant towards him, and he questions why that might be.
Joonas eventually ends his walk, claiming that it feels like the end of a relationship, and saying “Thank you for the walking company, and for all of these years”.
In the studio, when Jaakko questions whether pre-break-up talk is considered a ‘cheerful’ conversation topic in Joonas’ hometown of Pori, Joonas jokes that it can be, as it allows the opportunity for something better to happen for both parties.
Later, after Eero talks about how the task had been a mental minefield, Joonas agrees, saying that at one point he’d considered stopping the task early just to get out of what he claims to have been an anxiety-inducing situation.
It is revealed that Joonas and Pilvi had walked 192 steps, and Pilvi confirms that Joonas had said precisely five English words while doing so, as well as ending the task with the correct phrase.
Jaakko awards Joonas joint second place, but just 2 points.
