The Natural Friends display absolute insanity
Before starting their time, Alex informs Julian, Lucy, and Sam that they have a total of 12 tasks on their bodies.
The three also divvy up the task responsibilities before their time starts: Sam volunteers to shake his head and smile; Lucy volunteers to shout, as she’s good at it and likes doing it (she intends to go “method”, pretending that a fox has relieved itself in her garden again); and Julian volunteers to look at them.
When Alex blows his whistle, Lucy immediately begins shouting at an imaginary fox, and Julian has to inform her that she can just shout the task instructions, and that she doesn’t have to be shouting constantly throughout the task.
Sam opens one of the task briefs on his body, which instructs him to eat a bowl of cereal in the lab. While he runs off to the kitchen to fetch some cereal, Lucy opens one of the task briefs attached to her, which instructs her to sniff the front door.
Lucy and Julian make their way to the front door, where Lucy sniffs it, and they both return to the lab. On their return, Alex checks with Julian that he’d watched Lucy sniffing the door, and then asks her what it smelled like (“IT SMELLED LIKE WOOD!”). Julian then tells her she should try “sniffing the back door”, leading her to shouting at him that “YOU’RE A MUCKY BUGGER!”.
Lucy then reads one of the task briefs which was stuck to Julian, which instructs them to shake hands.
Lucy then opens another of the task briefs stuck to her, which asks them to name a total of five biscuits. Julian lists off – and Lucy repeats – “bourbons”, “rich tea”, “chocolate finger”, “Garibaldi”, and “jam rings”. Sam finally returns to the lab and starts eating his bowl of cereal while Julian is listing biscuits.
Lucy and Julian then shake hands with Sam, completing the task which they’d previously started.
The next task brief instructs the team to make their buckets look like their faces. Using the marker pens from the whiteboard, Lucy and Julian both draw on their buckets. Sam is still too busy eating his cereal at this point, so Lucy does his drawing for him (Julian suggests that Lucy draw Sam’s face dribbling). He finally finishes eating his cereal – and drinking the milk – by the time that Lucy has finished her drawing.
Lucy then reads another of the task briefs which were attached to her, which instructs them to complete a total of 20 squats. All three team members participate in the squats (during which Julian definitely looks away from both Sam and Lucy, but it is not commented on), but no-one keeps count properly, so they end up doing 27 between them.
Sam’s next task brief requires them to shake hands with one another again.
The next task is unexpectedly deep, instructing them to tell one another something they’d done that they now regret. Sam says he regrets going to Croatia, but does not elaborate any further (in the studio, he dodges a further explanation, claiming that it is quite dull and no-one wants to hear it, before stating that he’d basically not made the most of his time there). While continuing to stare at Lucy, Julian claims that he regrets performing cunnilingus (though in the studio, he admits that he doesn’t really regret it, and was apparently quite good at it). Lucy admits to her team that when she’d visited Kavos (Greece), she’d done “a big poo” and then thrown it off of the balcony (this appears to be the same incident she referenced in the studio during the ‘Choose a new nickname’ task in the previous episode).
Sam then opens another one of the task briefs attached to him, which requires them all to once again shake hands with one another. Lucy’s next task brief also requires them to shake hands.
Lucy then open another of her task briefs, which instructs them to write a powerful message to the other team on the whiteboard. Sam chooses to write “Fly forever, my angels!”.
Lucy’s final task brief requires the team to shake hands with one another one more time.
Sam then reminds Lucy and Julian that the buckets need to go back on their heads for the task to end.
In the studio, Greg summarises the team’s attempt as “three minutes of absolute insanity”. The Natural Friends complete the tasks in 6 minutes and 48 seconds, and earn 5 points each.
