Work as a team / Sabotage your team

  • In this team task, the contestants must try to complete a physical task as a team (e.g. relocating balloons, sand, cans, or water from one place to another, constructing a bridge, recreating a landmark, or choreographing a synchronised dance).
  • This is sometimes complicated with the requirement that half of their hands must be placed on half of their hips at all times.
  • Usually, one contestant on any team of three is given a secret task to sabotage their team's attempt in some way. However, there have also been instances in which there is a saboteur on both teams, or where everyone, or all but one of the contestants, has secretly been tasked to sabotage their team's effort.
  • Usually, the saboteurs success comes at the cost of their team's success, but there have also been instances where the saboteur's success benefits their team.

Original version

In this version of the task, the contestants must relocate as many inflatable objects as possible from the caravan to Paul's car. There is no requirement for them to have half their hands on half their hips throughout. One member of the team of three has been instructed to attempt to sabotage their team.

Adaptations

In this version of the task, the contestants are instructed to choreograph a synchronised dance together, but both team members have also secretly been tasked with sabotaging their effort.
In this version of the task, the contestants must move as much sand as possible into a shopping trolley, while keeping half of their hands on half of their hips. One member of the team of three has been instructed to attempt to sabotage their team.
In this hybrid adaptation of two tasks, the teams must attempt to build the tallest tin can tower on a table while keeping half their hands on half their hips. They must also name a unique country before placing each can. One member of the team of three has been instructed to attempt to sabotage their team.

In this version of the task, the contestants must collect as much water as possible and place it inside the bowl of an empty toilet, while keeping half their hands on half their hips. Also, since the teams have an even number of contestants, both teams have a secret saboteur on board.
In this version of the task, the teams must attempt to construct a bridge between two weighing scales, to support the most weight. In a twist, two members of each team are secretly instructed to sabotage their team’s attempt, and the third individual is given the opportunity to attempt the task once with each of the teams.
In this version of the task, there is a saboteur on both teams. While the team objective is to recreate the Sydney Opera House using soap, the saboteur on each team must find a way to dramatically destroy their creations without being accused of sabotage. Unusually, the saboteur’s success does not come at their team’s cost, since the task is scored for all team members based on how dramatic the destruction is alone.
