Task brief

The contestants find the task brief attached to a door immediately behind Olli. The brief for the task is as follows:

Remove all the balls from the bin.

Your time starts when you enter the room.

The fastest wins.

Task notes

  • Inside the room behind the door, a large wooden bin with plexiglass windows on the front has been assembled, and filled with balls.

Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Espen immediately enters the room, jumps into the bin, and starts scooping the balls out with his arms, before realising that there is a smarter solution. Climbing back out again, he lifts up one side of the bin, which has an unattached floor, allowing all of the balls to fall out of the bottom. Olli stops the clock when he has lifted it sufficiently for it to be considered empty, and then Espen drops it back down again. He therefore completed the task in just 51 seconds.
  • Henriette immediately enters the room, climbs into the bin, and starts scooping out the balls with her arms. After a while, she realises she should have brought something in with her to help, and leaves the room to fetch a couple of plastic bins to use as scoops. She persists with using one of the bins to remove the balls to the very end, completing the task in 5 minutes and 57 seconds.
  • Kristoffer immediately identifies that he does not need to rush into the room, but can take his time preparing for the task. Opening the doors and carefully remaining outside of the room, he tapes two garden rakes together, and uses them to reach in and drag the bin closer to the doorway. He then uses a drill to unscrew one end of the front wall of the bin, so he can use the rake to pull all of the balls out without setting foot in the room. After working at this for a while, he requests two glasses of water and paper towel from Olli, to refresh himself. He removes all but one ball, then steps into the box and removes it by hand in just 1.38 seconds. In the studio, Atle suggests that it is perhaps the best task solution in the history of the show.
  • Live immediately enters the room, climbs into the bin, and starts scooping out the balls with a sofa cushion. After removing quite a lot of the balls in this way, she realises she needs something more effective, and retrieves a large snow shovel from the garden to use as a scoop. This proves somewhat slow and unwieldy for her, though, and she eventually uses the shovel to instead break the plexiglass front to the bin, so she can more easily scoop the remaining balls out through the hole by hand. She completes the task in 11 minutes.
  • Martha immediately enters the room and jumps into the bin, swimming around in the balls before using a metal bowl to scoop them out. Having almost removed all of the balls, she briefly starts examining the construction of the box, identifying that perhaps it could be dismantled to get the balls out quicker. However, she cannot figure out how to do this quickly, so instead persists with removing the balls manually and finishes, exhausted, after 13 minutes.
