Task brief

The task brief is laid on a small table in the garden. The brief for the task is as follows:

Make the tallest tower of cans on this table.

Highest tower wins.

Also, whilst building your tower, you must shake Markl’s hand and say you’re from a different country once every 10 seconds.

Markl will blow his whistle every 10 seconds.

Your time ends when you fail to shake Markl’s hand and say you’re from a different country before Markl blows his whistle.

Task notes

A length of rope is tied to the table, with a loop tied in the other end, which Nuno tightens around the contestants’ waists, before they read the task brief.
A couple of metres away from the table, there is a shopping trolley full of unlabelled tin cans.
Once the task begins, Nuno stands a couple of metres away from the other side of the table, so that the contestants are forced to traverse back and forth between him and the shopping trolley, while tethered to the table (unless they identify that this is not a requirement of the task).
Although not explicitly stated in the task brief (as shown), it transpires that the contestants can choose to end their attempt at any time by declaring their tower to be complete. If, however, their attempt ends because they made a mistake, the height of their tower is completely disregarded.
