Episode 1: The whole Advent candlestick is burning

Episode synopsis

In this episode, the contestants must bring in something that has made them shed a tear, create a new and necessary garment, extract a perfect nut kernel, light a set of Advent candles, and build the tallest corn cob tower.

• Just like in the final episode of season 8, graphics appear on screen at various points in this episode to alert the viewers to product placement. It is possible that this is in reference to Leo’s prize task submission, as he mentions a specific brand name, although the label on the product is not actually displayed in any obvious way, as the bottle is too small.

Solveig Kloppen points out that “the whole Advent candlestick is burning” at the end of her attempt at the ‘Light the Advent candles’ task, as she and Olli watch the entire candelabra engulfed in flames before them.

Note: Pork belly is the traditional Norwegian Christmas meal. The Silver Boys (‘Sølvguttene’) are a long-established boys’ choir, who hold a Christmas concert every year.
