Calle Hellevang-Larsen
Biography
Calle (Carl Fredrik) Hellevang Larsen is an actor, presenter and comedian who appeared as a contestant on the first two seasons of Kongen Befaler.
His comedy career began in 2003, when he formed the group Raske Menn (Fast Men) with childhood friend Øyvind Rafto and Anders Hoff. The trio performed sketch comedy and won the best newcomer Komiprisen (now-defunct Norwegian comedy prize) in 2005 for their stage show The Fast Show. This award-winning show ran for five years, playing over 500 shows.
In 2007, the group broke into TV with their show Snabbgrabbar med Raske Menn on TV Norge, which ran for one season. They returned to the stage in 2010, winning another Komiprisen for Show 2 & 3. Calle also starred in one season of his own web-series in 2010, Ah! Så det er SÅNN det er! (Ah, so THAT’S how it is!).
In 2011, Calle joined fellow contestants Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker as a co-host of their talk show, I kveld med Ylvis. Calle played the sidekick role, as well as taking part in various sketches and hidden-camera segments. The show also featured fellow season 2 contestant Magnus Devold.
He left the show for one season in 2012, as the Raske menn had signed on with rival channel TV2 to create a satirical news show called 20.00 med Raske Menn. He then rejoined the Ylvisåker brothers in 2013 for seasons 3-5 of I kveld med Ylvis. During 2014-2015, he would also occasionally join the brothers on stage during their concert tour, The Expensive Jacket Tour.
In 2015, the Raske Menn opened another stage show, 90 minutter på 80 minutter, which was nominated for another Komiprisen. Between 2018 and 2020, Calle joined fellow season 2 contestant Jon Almaas as a sidekick on Jon’s show Praktisk Info med Jon Almaas.
In 2018, he reunited with Bård, Vegard, and Magnus for Juleølkalenderen, a Christmas beer-tasting special created for the streaming platform Dplay.
In 2019 and 2020, Calle was a contestant on season 1 and season 2 of Kongen Befaler, being one of the two contestants (the second was Maria Stavang) who returned for a second season at the request of the network. He also acted in the short film Rubbish Robbers, released in 2019.
After appearing on Kongen Befaler, Calle reunited with Magnus and the Ylvis brothers in 2020 for the comedy show Ylvis på holmen med Calle og Magnus on TV Norge.
He then participated in (and won) the third season of Ikke lov å le på hytta (No Laughing Allowed in the Cabin, the Norwegian adaptation of Last One Laughing) in 2022. The season also featured fellow Kongen Befaler contestants Magnus Devold and Kristine Grændsen. He was nominated for the ‘Celebrity Participant of the Year’ Gullruten (Norwegian TV award) for his efforts.
In 2022, he also premiered his own show, Calles gale verden (Calle’s crazy world), which he defined as a ‘hidden-camera drama’. It follows the adventures of a dramatised version of Calle, interspersed with hidden camera prank clips. He was the winner of the 2022 ‘Funniest on TV’ Humorprisen (Norwegian comedy prize that replaced the Komiprisen) for his work in both shows.
Fun fact: Calle has a small town square named after him in Averøy - Carl Fredrik Hellevang-Larsens Plass.
