Task brief

The task brief – with a ring on its seal, rather than the usual ‘TM’ – is balanced on an easel in the caravan. The brief for the task is as follows:

Do the most accurate finger painting of the person on the other end of the phone.

You may only use four-letter words when speaking to them, and every other reply will be a lie.

You have a total of 10 minutes.

Your time starts when the phone rings.

Task notes

  • On the easel, there is a blank canvas for the contestants to paint on.
  • Next to wear they are seated, balanced on a support mounted to the kitchen counter, there is an artist’s palette with blobs of paint in seven colours.
  • Positioned on the sink drainer, there is a red rotary phone.
  • The man the contestants are speaking to – a chef named Andrew – calls the contestants from inside the phonebox, which is visible through the window of the caravan behind them. He is equipped with a dial with the words ‘TRUTH’ and ‘LIE’ printed on it, which he can use to visually keep track of how he should be answering the contestants’ questions.
