Attempts

Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!

  • Sara brings in the boy band Take That’s single Shine on CD, and earns second place.
  • Rob brings in his “almost 99% completed” Panini Football World Cup 2014 sticker book (the same book that Josh Widdicombe had brought in for series 1’s ‘The most satisfying item’ task). He highlights, in particular, the shiny foil stickers that are in the book. Though not at all interested in football, Greg recalls that he’d once had a football sticker book, while at school, just because he’d wanted to fit in. Rob ultimately earns fourth place.
  • Paul brings in a pair of shiny meditation balls. When Greg questions what that are used for, Paul says “Just playing with them, innit”, but goes onto say they are supposedly good for your joints and movement. Alex says that the balls are officially known as Chinese Exercise Balls, Chinese Medicine Balls, or Chinese Healthy Balls. Paul earns first place.
  • Al brings in a battery-operated torch. When Greg asks if it’s a nice torch, Alex informs him that it doesn’t work. Dave surmises that, if it did work, it could have been used to test how shiny everyone else’s prizes are. Al earns last place.
  • Dave brings in a hi-vis cycling jacket which has a light on the back. He earns third place, because Greg judges it to be “boring”.
