Nick socks it to the board

After reading the task brief, Nick finds a large bottle of water and selects that as the item he will try to stick onto the board. For his adhesives, Nick decides to use the silicone caulk, along with the velcro and a tube of hair styling gel.

Nick combines the styling gel and silicone into a paste in the mixing bowl, and then applies three strips of velcro to the whiteboard. He then decides to take off his sock, to use as a pouch for the water bottle, hoping that the fabric will act like the missing part of the Velcro and hold the bottle’s weight. Unfortunately, when he pushes the sock-wrapped bottle against the Velcro on the board, it does not adhere. He then tries adding the styling gel and silicone paste, but this substance seems to mostly drip down onto the floor.

Realising that he’s opted for too much weight, Nick removes the bottle of water from the sock and tests to see if the sock alone will stick onto the board, which it does, so he goes with the sock as his object, and instructs Alex to start the timer. The sock remains attached to the board for the full minute, after which he removes the paste-soaked item from the board, and Alex offers to get him a new one.

In the studio, Greg suggests that Nick may have had a full mental breakdown in the lab, during the task. After Greg summarises Nick’s desperate actions during the task as evidence, Nick responds with “what part of that makes you think I'm mad?”. Greg admits that he feels kind of sorry for Nick, but not in a way that would garner him any points.

As suspected, Nick is disqualified from the task for failing to stick his intended object to the board for a minute.
