Nick and Steve guess some movie titles
In the first round, Nick steps into the movie booth and starts reading out the truncated film titles to Steve. Steve correctly guesses The Nutty Professor (“THE NUT PRO”), Pulp Fiction (“PUL FIC”), and Bambi (“BAM”). Steve has a bit of trouble with “FIG CLU”, as Nick is not pronouncing the letters as they would sound in the actual title (pronouncing it as “fig clue” / “fig ˈklü”, rather than “fī ˈklə”). Once Nick pronounces them more accurately, Steve immediately and correctly guesses Fight Club. Having corrected his technique, Nick does a better job of subsequent pronunciations, and Steve makes correct guesses at There’s Something About Mary (“THE SOM ABO MAR”) and Saving Private Ryan (“SAV PRI RYA”). Nick and Steve therefore get six titles correct in the first round, but they lose to the other team by two.
In the second round, Steve enters the booth and helps Nick correctly guess The Matrix (“THE MAT”), The Mummy (“THE MUM”), Braveheart (“BRA”), Donnie Brasco (“DON BRA”), and Million Dollar Baby (“MIL DOL BAB”). When it then comes to “MIS IMP”, Steve initially mispronounces it as “miss imp”, instead of “mish imp”, and Nick initially makes an incorrect guess at “Mr. Incredible”, but he does then manage to correctly guess Mission Impossible just before the klaxon sounds. The duo once again score six films in this round, and once again they lose out to the other team by two.
For the third and final round, Nick re-enters the booth. Now pronouncing only the last three letters of each word, he says “ROY” (for Troy), leading Steve to guess “Rob Roy” before they pass and move on. He then pronounces “RON MAN”, and Steve correctly guesses Iron Man. Steve also correctly identifies Speed from “EED” and Full Metal Jacket from “ULL TAL KET” (though he initially guesses “Old Town Market”). The team of two therefore win the final round with three correct movie titles, vs. the trio’s single correct answer.
At the end of the task, Nick and Steve earn 3 points each for having won just one of the three rounds.
